Our Exterior Waterproofing Process
Before we begin
Before work begins, we verify utility locates, carefully clear the repair area, and ensure the foundation walls are fully accessible—setting the stage for a clean, organized repair
Excavation along foundation walls
Our process starts by excavating along the exterior of your foundation all the way down to the footing. This gives us full access to your foundation walls. Once excavated, we clean the walls thoroughly to remove any dirt or debris and repair any visible cracks.
Waterproofing Membrane Application
We start by applying a liquid membrane that forms a strong, flexible seal on the foundation wall. Next, we layer on a 56-mil thick polymeric sheet membrane for added waterproofing. Lastly, we install a layer of Delta MS — a durable, dimpled membrane that protects the layers underneath and channels water down to the footing.
Installing Weeping Tile
Next, we remove and dispose of your old weeping tile system (if present) and install a new one along the base of your foundation. This is a critical part of ensuring proper drainage and preventing water buildup at the base of your foundation.
Backfill & Proper Grading
Backfilling & grading is the final step, and we do it carefully to minimize settlement. This ensures the soil directs water away from your foundation and remains stable. After it has had time to settle, we come back for a complimentary regrade.
7 Signs you may have water entering your Basement
Signs of water damage
Inspect baseboards, lower sections of drywall and other building materials close to the floor. If they are discolored, smell musty or swelled in size then it was likely caused by water.
Damp or Musty Smell
A musty smell is commonly caused by mold & mildew growth due to moisture, so if it smells musty then there is a good chance you have water entering your basement.
Cracks in Foundation Walls or Concrete floor
These cracks are often easily identifiable, particularly if flooring or drywall isn’t obstructing your view of the foundation wall. Cracks in foundations typically do not cause structural concern but will eventually allow water to seep through.
Condensation on Basement Windows
Finding the cause of condensation on basement windows can be tricky. It’s usually due to either poor ventilation or too much moisture. If ventilation isn’t the problem, high humidity from water leaks is likely the main cause.
Efflorescence
A white powdery substance is commonly observed near floor level or along cracks in the flooring or foundation.
The Formation of Mould or Mildew
Mold and mildew, thrive on moisture and often appear on surfaces like walls & ceilings. Mold can begin forming in as little as 24-48hrs reproduce through spores that can float in the air and land on damp areas. While mold has a fuzzy or textured appearance and can be various colors, mildew is typically a flat, powdery coating and appears as gray, white, or light brown.
Unexplained repiratory Symptoms, runny nose, worsened asthma
New or lingering symptoms when your in the home could potentially be caused by unhealthy air circulating through the home.
